We finally choose one aspect of our ideas, the grid houses and the posibilty to change them and to create a better lifestyle in the area.
The concept is to accept the building typos in the area but to improve them by applying different tools, with different functions such as sustainable components, rhich house components and so on.

Working in such a small scale enabels us to really work with the people and their needs instead of establishing a set of impersonal rules.
The next step will now be to widen our concept on a bigger scale to focus on council planning problems, too.

Workshop WindChill
The aim of the workshop was to include one of different elements in the design of our site. We choose wind and tried to analyze the flow of winds from the top of the mountains into the city. We wanted to create a house that adapts with its form to the wind and therefore creates a wind canal that leads cold air into the hot inner city center.
Additional we transformed the housing stucture to streets transporting the wind canal furthermore. There are house blocks that lead the wind and add to his speed. Some houses are standing diagonal to the wind flow, to lead cold air into the residential area.

Design Proposal
The Design Proposal of the Pin Up concentrated on the area around the station, and the continuation of the main axis of Tirana with the Tirana Boulevard and its places.
We wanted to create a network of green spaces, in which pedestrians and bicyclists can find shelter from the sun and a bit of cool air.
The train tracks should disappear in the earth, the green spaces should be connected by pedestrian bridges.

Design Proposal
After analyzing the area around the river in Tirana, we decided to use the image of an mosaic to develop the site. Every colour of the mosaik stands for a different function, as for example red stands for housing. But there are some mosaic puzzles where the colour is missing, this means, there is no use and the places are void places. As the residents don't know where to drop there waste, they leave it at the void places, f.e. they throw it into the river.
So we need to give the river a function, to define its value, so its no longer a void place.
How we will do it, is future work. But we know, the aim of our proposal is not only to enhance the living standart and quality of the area, but also to protect nature and to reconnect the city to its environment.
